#BREAKING: Police in Nova Scotia have found the body of a man who went missing amid historic flooding over the weekend, confirming the first victim of the tragic event.https://t.co/ilgzorVUig

Officials in Nova Scotia say they found the body of one of the people who went missing over the weekend during massive flooding across the province. Police say they recovered the body of a 52-year-old man. They say a person’s remains were also found in a different part of the search area and they are working with officials on identification. Four people, including two children, were reported missing on Saturday when the two vehicles they were traveling in were submerged in the regional municipality of West Hants, northwest of Halifax.
Floodwaters in Nova Scotia have mostly subsided but they’ve left behind a network of damaged and washed out roads and bridges in the province. Provincial officials said 25 bridges had been affected, with 19 damaged and six destroyed. At least 50 roads sustained significant damage.
Rail service between Moncton and Halifax is shut down indefinitely after a section of track collapsed outside of Truro during the weekend flooding. That single rail line is the port of Halifax’s only rail link to the rest of the country and North America. CN isn’t giving a timeline for repairs at this point.

Rumour is that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will shuffle his cabinet today. Cabinet ministers were recalled on Monday for meetings with the PM including Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe MP Ginette Petipas Taylor, who is Minister of Official Languages & also responsible for ACOA, and Beasejour MP Dominic Leblanc, currently the Intergovernmental Affairs Minister & Infrastructure Minister. Public policy expert Donald Savoie spoke to Brunswick News and says that both have outperformed their colleagues and says they both should be in line to get upgraded to higher profile cabinet posts.
A clean test result yesterday at Parlee Beach after a couple of days of no swimming advisories on the weekend. There are no swimming advisories still in effect for Oak Bay Provincial Park and Campers Beach at Mactaquac…Oak Bay has been closed since last Thursday, while Camper’s Beach has been closed since July 14. The province updates the beach water advisories every day and you can get that info here: newcountry969.ca/storm
